How can I exclude email traffic from showing up in Independent Analytics?

I’m doing email marketing and a large portion of my website traffic is simply the traffic that comes to my website from emails I send out. These emails contain links to posts on my website.

Especially in the Pages tab, the Visitors and the Views stats are pretty useless for me, because traffic from my newsletter is mixed with all other traffic sources (aka Channels in Google Analytics).

I’d like to exclude this traffic from the analytics but can’t figure out how to do so.

    Thanks for using Independent Analytics!

I’m afraid it’s not currently possible to filter by the referrer in the Pages menu. You can only filter by traffic source in the Referrers menu.

If you’re looking at the Referrers menu, email traffic is going to make up a majority of Direct views. You can filter out the Direct views to get a clear picture of how much traffic you’re getting from other sources.

Due to privacy/security features in the browser, we can’t detect when a visitor came from an email, so that’s why these visitors get lumped into the Direct referrer source. Please note that this is not unique to our product and is the same for Google Analytics, for instance. One workaround is to use campaign links in your emails, which is a feature available in the Pro version.

With all that said, I wish we had this feature too! We will be implementing numerous ways to view data across the different menus, so you will be able to generate reports like this in the future.

    Thanks for your answer.

I do have the Pro version and I do use campaign links in my emails (utm_medium=email).

What I’m looking for is a way to know which of my blog posts perform the best for <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>organic</span> traffic.

But the views/visitors data currently shown in the Pages menu include traffic from all channels, including email.

Your answer advises to use the Referrers menu, but the analytics for individual blog posts are only available in the Pages menu.

In the Pages menu, I would need a way to exclude the traffic from my email campaigns, but the filters do not allow to filter out a specific UTM tag.

I wonder if there is currently another way to do this ?

Thanks for upgrading to Pro! There’s an update coming in a few hours with WooCommerce analytics and email reports ??

Right now, it isn’t possible to filter by traffic source on the Pages menu. Pages can only be filtered by the columns shown in the data table. However, we are going to add ways to see this data in a future update.

Here’s a ticket here in our feedback board showing one of the ways we’ll address this: https://feedback.independentwp.com/boards/feature-requests/posts/the-examiner-view-data-from-multiple-dashboards
