I cannot update any posts–it reverts back to the original

  • This problem just came out of the blue it seems. I went to change a post today I had written a few months ago, and after I made the changes and clicked update it went right back to the original post… as if I had made no changes at all.

    I am really baffled by this. I have tried disabling all of my plugins, and even changed the theme to the classic one, and still I could not edit any of my posts. Not matter how many times I try to change the post, or even erase it entirely, it will always revert back to the original post as soon as I click update.

    Please help.

  • Have you contacted your hosts in case there is an issue with your database?

    Yeah I just contacted hostgator and asked them to run a scan of my websites to see if there is a virus or something.

    Should I have asked them to check the database?

    Oh this is bad! I just got on my admin panel and saw that every post and page has been deleted somehow.. It shows Zero posts and Zero pages…. Please help. I am currently contacting Hostgator to see what the problem is. I really hope I did not lose years worth of work.

    This exact same thing happened to me .. started last night not being able to update the drafts… and just a bit ago all my posts are not showing up..

    Strange thing I was at another blog I read and all her posts were gone.. I thought it was weird and then a few minutes later all mine were gone..

    If you’re with Hostgator, they apparently had a problem with some recent server-wide upgrades. If you contact their support department, they’ll restore everything for you.

    If you aren’t with Hostgator, you may need to repair the database. Access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel), check all of the tables, and choose “Repair tables” from the pull-down menu.

    OMG! I am so happy to find I’m not the only one! I’m with Hostgator as well but the email I wrote to support won’t go thru.

    I’m not clear on what Hostgator is doing to resolve the issue, but repairing your tables may work. Just follow the instructions in the reply above yours.
