Error when trying to get free Wordfence license

Same here, but no one care free user’s problem.

Same here, and it’s not only on one website, this is 3rd website I’ve updated and licenses are not working, on each one “An error occurred while installing your license key.”

And as I see there are many users reporting the same problem since they updated their wordfence.

Sad this glitch occurs over the holidays. Planned execution sad. Glad I don’t pay.

Hi @hilabs, sorry to see you’re having problems with this and apologies for the delay over the holiday and New Year period, which I’m doing my best to get back up-to-speed with.

We have seen possible issues installing keys automatically more than 24 hours after generation. Additionally, if you are in a different browser than the one used when requesting your Free Wordfence license, you will be unable to automatically install it. In those cases you will need to manually copy and paste the key from the email to complete the activation of Wordfence Security.

Aside from verifying that you did not inadvertently copy only part of the license key, I would check whether you can install the license when Wordfence is the only active plugin on your site. There could be a Javascript conflict with another plugin potentially stopping the code executing the verification check.

Let me know if it still doesn’t work after trying those things. Our forum guidelines do require one topic to cover the issues for one user, so if anybody else has tried all of the above steps with no luck and haven’t already, please start up a new forum topic and we’ll be able to look into your site(s) on an individual basis.

I have this issue… ALL plugins disabled and I get the message:

Error Installing License

An error occurred while installing your license key.

Please try again. If the problem persists, please contact Wordfence Support

This error is still here

Still the same error. Same browser, certainly no 24 hours between receiving the key and trying to register. Most annoying thing is the modal screen that goes over your plugin dashboard all the time…
