Contact Form 7 plugin not sending message and not responding

  • Hello,

    I just noticed that the plugin Contact Form 7 is not working anymore and is not sending message and not responding!!!!

    after filling all fields and solving the reCaptcha and hitting the send/submit button no response from the plugin and no action at all!!!!

    the plugin is not responding to the click on the send/submit button…!!

    Please fix this problem as the plugin is becoming useless!!

  • I get the message that the form was processed just fine and it’s saved in Flamingo. But same, no mail is being sent.

    Did this problem start randomly or did the plugin update cause this problem for you?

    I just found the reason for this, it was the REST API setting! if disabled the contact form 7 stop responding and stop sending messages!!

    This start happening recently after contact form 7 update, I’m not sure exactly which update version of contact form 7 start generating this weird behaviour, but it was working previously just fine with the REST API disabled on my website.

    I’m not using any external App. to connect with my website and I don’t really need to enable the REST API on my website that’s why I kept it disabled for additional security reasons.

    I also don’t understand why contact form 7 developer made such change to force using REST API for sending messages from the website page?!

    I hope the developer of contact form 7 to answer this question and resolve this issue ASAP.

    Careful with disabling REST API. While in the past it was fine, nowadays a lot of things including Gutenberg editor use it.

    UPD for my case of the issue. I checked and Contact Form 7 mailing code didn’t change at least since 5.6. So it was unlikely to be the plugin issue.

    In my case I was trying to send mail via standard wp_mail function and my “From” field had the mail “[email protected]”, while I didn’t really have that address. Instead my domain corporative mail was “[email protected]”. These 2 things together, it seems, have triggered spam filters and my mail was sent successfully but never delivered.

    So basically I installed SMTP plugin for WordPress and made sure that my mail is being sent via actually existing mail “[email protected]”. Now mails get delivered.
