• Hi there,

There are some warnings after my recent PHP version upgrade to 8.0 from the plugin. Is the plugin compatible with PHP 8.0?

    The warning:

    Hello @rthaena,

The current version of GEO my WP is not fully compatible with PHP 8.0. However, GEO my WP v4.0 which is currently in beta should be compatible. You can read about it and download it from here if you wish to test it ( should do it on a staging site first ).

Let me know if you have any other questions.

When will full PHP 8.0 support be expected, since it’s the lowest version advisable from a security perspective?

    Hello @robpetrin,

As mentioned above, GEO my WP v4.0 should be compatible with PHP 8.0. v4.0 is still in beta and the latest beta version can be downloaded from here.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I appreciate your reply, but do have two questions —

    • You expect people, who’ve paid for your product, to use a beta in their production environments, with the inconclusive note that it “should be” compatible with PHP 8?
    • It’s been over six months at this point since the end of life for PHP 7.x, and there’s no stable release confirmed to be supporting PHP 8?

    @robpetrin,

I agree, I should have and I was planning to release the new version months ago. But for some personal matters ( out of my control ) the release had been delayed.

However, for all users ( paid and free ) who had contacted me in regards to support of PHP 8.0 and other issues, I recommend installing the latest beta version of GEO my WP v4.0.

The latest beta version ( beta 5 ) can be found here, and even though it is a beta, except for a few minor styling adjustments and such that would be the next official release.

And I said “should be” just because the new version hasn’t been tested on enough setups to be sure 100% that I didn’t miss a function or a line of code that is not compatible with PHP 8.0 and might show an error on your setup ( which could be the case with an official version as well ). But I have been developing v4.0 on PHP 8.0 for months now and there are many users who have been using the beta version and so far so good.

If you have a staging environment, I’d recommend installing the latest beta version and giving it a try.

I have been back on development for the past couple of weeks and planning to release the official version within the next 2 weeks or so.

It’s been a couple of months and I was curious what the latest is on v4. I’ve tried v4 beta 5 and got everything working, however, it seems that the premium extensions aren’t compatible so I had to revert back to v3 since we’re using the AJAX extension.

    Hi @rastajafarian,

I am sorry about the long delay with the release of v4.0. It has been a long journey for me.

However, I already uploaded the new version of GEO my WP and the extensions to the server and I am going to release them over this weekend.

Please note that once you update to GEO my WP 4.0 you will also need to update the AJAX Forms extension. The current version of the extensions won’t work with the new version of GEO my WP.
