Templtes and the Image Editor…

  • i once had the tedious problem of figuring out why the media editor wasn’t letting me do on the fly edits to pictures i uploaded. i like to make custom thumbnails of images i upload, but the editable image in the window when you clicked (edit image) would never show up. it turned out to be because of the template i was using on the site itself that effected it, but i never found out why.

    does anyone know what the connection it between the site template and the image editor is? why the image editor only fully works if i have a default template active? as it is right now, i need to switch active templates whenever i updates my site, but i would rather fix what’s wrong with my template so i won’t have to, and to be able to make templates for others without worrying about weather or not the media editor will function correctly.

    That would depend entirely on the theme and the functionality of the theme you are using.

    Generally speaking though, if the theme utilizes custom image gallery display options for example, it is entirely likely that the bit in the theme that does that customization is what might be affecting your ability to utilize the media editor.
