Blog posts have disappeared

This is a university project. All the blog posts on this server are still visible on the dashboard but the links for each post return a 404 error.
The site and network are fully up to date with the exception of a theme which is currently unused.
I have tried to create a test post to see if this would publish, but the post fails to generate.

The posts are definitely still there, I just can’t access their URLs either. Since the normal pages are accessible normally, I don’t think it’s a server problem. I would recommend 2 things you should look at:
a) re-save the permalinks. Go to Settings > Permalinks and click on the Save button. Does it work after that? Then it was the permalink cache of wordpress as the cause.
b) Deactivate all plugins. Does it work after that? Then one of the plugins was to blame. If you reactivate them one after the other, you might find the culprit.
