    Hi All,

So, I have a client that I want to grant a 50% discount on the total order amount.
The order is already placed and paid, so how would I do this?
As far as I can see I can only return itmes, but I am not able to refund a certain amount…

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  • Hi @crindel

    Thanks for reaching out!

Firstly, I apologize for the delayed response.

I understand that you want to give a 50% discount to your customers whose orders have already been placed, however, you are unable to issue a refund.

Can you please share what payment gateway was used for the order?

Furthermore, can you please provide further details why you are unable to provide a refund to this order so that we could check this further?

If a screenshot would be helpful, I’d recommend using https://snipboard.io or https://skitch.com/. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

Meanwhile, I am sending the support documentation below on how to process refunds in WooCommerce: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-refunds/

    Hope this helps!

    Hi @xue28

We use Mangopay as payment gateway, but all refunds must happen manually.

In the end I was able to do a discount without taking items back.
I did this in the following way:

The thing here is, I needed to calculate all prices ( including the VAT over the new prices) manually.

Is there an easier way of doing this in the future?

    Hi @crindel

I understand that you are using the Mangopay plugin as the payment gateway for the orders that you want to process a refund, however, it should be done manually.

Since this is a third-party plugin which we don’t provide support for (please see our Support Policy here), it would be best reaching out to the plugin’s developers for further assistance here.

Since refunds are being processed manually, you will need to calculate them manually. You can find more information about Manual Refunds here: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-refunds/?quid=430862383e203ed0fde35f86ae4bd8dd#manual-refunds

Please note that this does not refund the customer via the payment gateway. Continue on to your payment gateway’s dashboard to start the refund process there, or transfer the money manually back to them.

    Hope this helps!

Hi @xue28 Thanks again for your reply.

I think I have not been clear what my problem exactly is.

I already refunded 50% of the pay-in amount back to the buyer using Mangopay’s dashboard. So yes, this went outside of Woocommerce.

My problem is/was that I found it not quite easy to reflect the 50% discount on the order itself.
I ended up needing to manually calculate all the prices (including the VAT).
I cant imagine this is the easiest way of editing the order so everything is correct.
