    Hello @sa5awii92

Thanks for reaching out again about your sitemaps.

First, we do not recommend using a third-party sitemap plugin with the Yoast SEO sitemap feature.

So if I understand correctly, the Google Search Console reports 0 discovered URLs for your sitemap index. The good thing is that it has processed the sitemap index itself, but that doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with your sitemaps.

Remember, the sitemap index does not contain actual site URLs but URLs of child sitemaps. Have the child sitemaps been read? Are URLs reported to have been discovered?

I don’t use any other sitemap plugin, I’m using just Yoast now. You misunderstood, I used the Yoast sitemap feature for some time and then I disabled that feature and used the XML plugin for about 2 months then I removed it. So now I’m using only the Yoast sitemap feature.

Have the child sitemaps been read? There are no child sitemaps and you can check the screenshot I uploaded

Are URLs reported to have been discovered?
No, not for this sitemap URL “https://dealinsi.com/sitemap_index.xml”

    @sa5awii92 Thanks for your reply.

We checked on your sitemap at https://dealinsi.com/sitemap_index.xml and were able to confirm that it does contain child sitemaps (such as https://dealinsi.com/post-sitemap.xml and https://dealinsi.com/page-sitemap.xml) and is being generated as expected (see image here).

As for the discovered URLs showing as 0 on the main sitemap_index.xml, this is due to the sitemap index only containing links to the child sitemaps and not URLs of the site’s pages, as those are contained within each of the respective child sitemaps.

If you aren’t seeing any URLs as discovered when inspecting the child sitemaps in Google Search Console, we’d recommend to first try removing the sitemap_index.xml and then resubmitting it.

    Thank you for your reply.

I already removed the sitemap_index.xml and then resubmitted it with the same results.

Not all the URLs are being discovered and you check this image https://ibb.co/RDsQDwT

    Hey @sa5awii92,

    Thank you for your reply.

Please know that it is unnecessary and better not to include multiple sub-sitemaps. Just submitting /sitemap_index.xml is enough – and please also know that /sitemap.xml is the default URL for the sitemap created by WordPress. This will include just about everything that is published on your site, even if you have set ones to noindex through Yoast SEO.

That URL should normally redirect from /sitemap.xml to /sitemap_index.xml as Yoast SEO disables the WordPress sitemap.

So to recap, please delete all other sitemaps from your Google Search Console account and only submit the sitemap_index.xml. This is explained in detail here: https://yoast.com/help/submit-sitemap-search-engines/

    Thank you for your reply.

I did exactly as you asked me to do. The child sitemaps not showing when I click on the sitemap_index.xml. on Google Search Console, you can check this image

    Is this now all set?

I want to know the best robots.txt file practice too, please.

    Hey @sa5awii92,

Thank you for your reply and screenshot.

Yes, this looks good. It can take a while before it would show the sub-sitemaps or the right amount of items found, just have patience in that regard.
