    Hello,

I have been facing this problem since I started creating web stories.

My web stories are inserted on a separate page (Web stories), and when I click on one, I’d normally expect to see its URL slug, but I don’t see anything on the URL tab, except my domain name.

    How do I solve this?

@yourjayanth Hello, we will be happy to check for you. Can you please share the affected web story URL?

Not just one webstory, but all webstories.

    Visit this page: https://mhtspace.com/web-stories/

You can tap on any webstory in the section, but you won’t find the URL slug.

@yourjayanth Thanks. If you go to Stories > Settings > Stories Archives, what do you have set?

Disabled. I tried setting it to my webstories page, and it still doesn’t work.

@yourjayanth Can you tell me what happens when you set it to default?

    Not working.

Visit the homepage, and there’s a section for web stories. If you click on any story, you can’t see the URL slugs there either.

Often times I see websites put web stories on their pages, and the URLs for those stories are displayed when I click on the story, but I don’t understand how to make that happen.

When embedding stories using the Gutenberg block it will open in a lightbox when clicked on and will not display the single story URL.

Stories should drive to the single story URL if clicking on it from the archives page though. If you’ve set the archive settings to default, please try clearing all cache, switching to a default theme (like Twenty Twenty two), and attempting to access the story URL once more. Then let me know if you can see the slug then.

As far as the archive page is concerned, yes, it is working. However, I don’t think it will solve the entire issue. The URL appears just on the archive pages, but what about web stories that I have embedded in other pages?

Any solution you could offer, apart from changing the theme?

@yourjayanth As for now the single story URL will not display when embedded using the block.

If the URL works on the archive page when using a default theme, but not with your original theme, I recommend reaching out to the theme developer to investigate further.
