I am using wpDataTables to draft a post. Initially all things are smooth although I have created over 20 tables.

But suddenly when I upload an excel to create another table, all figures in the table show as zero while those in excel are not zero. And when I click the drafted post, the following error page appears:

“There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

    Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.”

Then I deactivate wpDataTables plugin, and click the drafted post, no more error page appears and could be edited normally, but of course, without any wpDataTables blocks anymore.

May you please advise what I should do to use wpDataTables again smoothly? Thanks.

    Hi, Donna
    – Could you confirm if you are using the Lite or the Premium version of the plugin, please?

We will ask additional questions to make sure we fully understand all the details.

All of the tables on that page are tables linked to Excel, correct?
It was working up to a certain number of tables on the same page until you added that latest table, which caused the critical error?

With critical errors like that, it is important to get the full message of the critical error.

We would need to see the full error message, if you have it, please send it to us,
or if you don’t have it, you can reach out to check with your hosting provider if they have the full error report.
If you wish to see how to enable WP Debug to get the error log, please check out this useful article (https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-find-and-access-wordpress-error-logs-step-by-step/ )

Hi, I am using the lite version. After deactivating wpDataTables Plugin, the post can be shown. And I reinstall and reactivate wpDataTables Plugin Lite version now, and try to create table by uploading an excel, but zero are shown in the figures although the excel figures are not non-zero. Please advise. Thanks.

    Hi, Donna
Can you please check what is the number format coming from the source data in Excel, and make sure to set up the same number format in our plugin main settings/Number format.

Also, check if you added any prefix/suffix to the source cells of Excel for numeric data.
If so, then our plugin won’t be able to read this as numeric data – but it will read it as strings.
    – If you have any prefix/suffix, please remove them from source data, it needs to be pure numerics only.

If you did all this and still get a critical error when activating our plugin,
please make sure to have the latest Lite version installed 2.1.46.
If not, please update to latest version and purge cache on site.

If you still get the critical error on site, please enable WP_DEBUG and see if you can send us the full error report , so that we can inspect what the exact error is.
If you need help in getting WP error reports, please check this Tutorial https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-find-and-access-wordpress-error-logs-step-by-step/

    Kind regards
