    Hi,

I recently updated my Sydney theme from Version: 2.15 to 2.16, but now I receive the error – “There has been a critical error on this website.” when I try to view the site.

Can you please advise of what action can be taken please.

    Many thanks,
    Steve

  • Hi Steve,

I am sorry to hear the issue you are experiencing. But, I can confirm that I am not able to reproduce the same issue while testing with a site running WordPress 6.1.1 on a server with this detail:

    Server architecture	Linux 5.4.0-124-generic x86_64
PHP version	7.4.30 (Supports 64bit values)
    PHP SAPI	fpm-fcgi
    PHP max input variables	5000
    PHP time limit	100
    PHP memory limit	256M
    Max input time	30
    Upload max filesize	60M
    PHP post max size	60M
    cURL version	7.68.0 OpenSSL/1.1.1f
    Is SUHOSIN installed?	No
Is the Imagick library available?	Yes
    Are pretty permalinks supported?	No

You may talk to your host to verify whether the issue is server related or not.

Meanwhile, you can manually update the theme over FTP/sFTP client program by uploading the theme’s files manually:

    1. Access your site’s folder and locate to wp-content/themes directory
    2. Remove all files in the sydney theme folder
    3. Download the latest Sydney theme package to your local drive and unzip
    4. Upload all files to wp-content/themes/sydney (in your site’s directory)

The problem is now resolved. I was running PHP Version 8.0, but have now moved back to Version 7.4.

    Obviously a compatibility issue.

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Bonjour

j ai le même problème lorsque je passe sur la version PHP 8.0.

J’attends la mise à conformité de Sydney avec la nouvelle version 8.0
