    Hi,

I just install your plugin today, and tried using the auto clean button to clean out my wordpress core. It seems to be stuck at the 25% mark for a while, and won’t move past the revision part.

    Picture

I tried to manually delete the revision too, but it will come back after I refresh my browser.

This is my first website, and am not that technical. So I can’t really tell you more.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

It’s indeed not enough so that I can tell you what’s happening ?? It could really be anything.

It does happen all the time, exactly at this moment of the process?

On your hosting service side, you have no ways to access the PHP Error Logs? You could also ask them. Please note that learning how to access the PHP Error Logs is one of the most important thing when you have a website in PHP (and WordPress is build in PHP). Every developer will always ask you for the content of that file, as it’s often the only way to know what’s happening. The problem can also come from another plugin, WordPress itself, server misconfiguration, so really, everything is possible.

    I hope we’ll find the issue ??

Hi, I am experiencing a similar situation. My process keeps spinning at 17% all the time, but it doesn’t clear any Revisions.
Also the Deleted Posts item doesn’t work, when I clear it manually it shows cleared first, but when refreshing the page it goes back to the original number, I checked the Post trash and it actually did not delete.
In addition, I checked the error.log and there is no record of this.

Could this be caused by the theme? I’m using bricks builder.

I have a paid version of WP Fastest Cache, and clean database works with it. I just couldn’t get it to work on Database Cleaner. I decided to uninstall database cleaner when I was just randomly pressing buttons to see if it works or not, and I started getting 429 too many requests.

Not the plugin’s fault, but I just hope you don’t make the same mistake as I did. I did it on a fresh install with imported demo, so I was okay with starting over. For people with existing blog, proceed with cautions and make sure you make a BACKUP!

    Hi @yawyaw,

    I don’t think it’s related.

My process keeps spinning at 17% all the time, but it doesn’t clear any Revisions.

Please absolutely check the PHP Error Logs; something is happening, but of course, I don’t know what. The logs will tell us, and I can fix it (but it also might be another plugin or another issue, which is why you must look into it, or ask for it).

Also the Deleted Posts item doesn’t work, when I clear it manually it shows cleared first, but when refreshing the page it goes back to the original number, I checked the Post trash and it actually did not delete.

That’s odd – it does it with the very latest version?

Also, as a note, it doesn’t delete all the data, it only deletes the data which is older than the specified Age Threshold (in the settings).

Please let me know all that, if something is not working well (or not clear), I need to fix it and make it perfect ??

Odd that the issue appears as RESOLVED but no resolution has been posted.

I am having the same issue, stall at revisions (5% for me, probably because I have a lot more entries than others having the same problem).

    Hi @mikeswope,

Did you have a look at the PHP Error Logs? It stucks for a reason, but we need to know what is the reason ?? Then I am sure I can find a way to go around it.

Additionally to my previous question, what’s the count of the revisions in your cases? Is it a lot? If yes, I suspect a timeout (but again, only the PHP Error Logs will tell us that), and in that case I can also work on a solution.

I am actually trying to find the PHP error logs. I have inquired of my host’s tech support. Because I simply cannot find them anywhere they *should* be. I will get back to you once I hear from support. May not be until Monday (tomorrow).

No problem @mikeswope! We’ll find a solution, no worries. Meanwhile, I am implementing something new on Database Cleaner that might also help avoiding this issue (but of course, it’s still better to know exactly what’s going on). Thank you and enjoy the end of your week-end ??

    Jordy,

Support says, “That is correct, you do not have an any errors at the moment. Once you have an error the error log will appear in public_html.”

And I did not find any error log in that folder before contacting support.

I tried the plugin once more, stalled again at 5%.

What else can I do to help?

    Plugin Author Jordy Meow

    (@tigroumeow)

Mmm, they are not very helpful ?? There is definitely an error.

    Hi everyone,

I have published a new version of Database Cleaner today, It’s now 0.7.1.

If Database Cleaner gets stuck, there are two things to do:

    – Check your PHP Error Logs, or ask for them. That will help me helping you ?? And maybe we’ll noticed that the error is happening somewhere else (everything is possible).

    – Since there is a chance that it is a timeout or that the server actually breaks the requests for security reason (sometimes they do that), I have added a new setting in the plugin: “Delay (in ms)”. Set it to 2000, as a test. That will slow down the whole process, but that should stop the server to breaks the request.

Let me know how it works for you! ??

    mikeswope

    (@mikeswope)

The update solved the problem. The processes completed very quickly!

    (@tigroumeow)

Super! By default there is a little delay added now, but indeed, it’s not so noticeable. Thanks for coming back to me, and don’t hesitate to leave a little review if you have time ??
