With Mastodon becoming more popular, I wanted to add its Social Media Icon to my site, and I was happy to see it was already in the list.
However, it seems in order to have a website appear as verified in one’s profile, rel=”me” should be included in the link code, like this:
    <a rel="me" href="https://mastodon.green/@martijnk">Mastodon</a>
Adding the link elsewhere on the page, apparently doesn’t work when you add the social media icon as well, if that doesn’t have rel=”me” in it…

Would it be possible to add the rel=”me” in the Mastodon icon link, so it qualifies for verification?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Sure, that will be an easy addition. I’ll get an update out for that soon.

@bensibley Just checking in on this. Any updates? I’m also trying to set up my Mastodon verification, so this would be really handy. Thanks!

Sorry for the delay. I’ve just pushed an update, so in a few moments, you’ll see the new version, which adds rel="me" to the Mastodon link.

    Thanks!
Now let’s see if it actually works and my site will show up as verified on my Mastodon profile

    Okay, it doesn’t work for me… ??
Neither did adding a (hidden) link in the left sidebar (as a custom HTML widget).

Does the Mastodon link verification—either using a Social Media Icon or a regular link elsewhere—work for anybody else not using a static page, but My latest posts as homepage?
