Dashboard > Updates link missing from menu in WP Admin

Hi @webz1lla, do you mean the https://<your-domain-name>/wp-admin/update-core.php link? Can you try accessing it by putting the URL in the browser?

When I try to go to that page (replacing the domain with my domain) it loads up a page with the following error:

Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.

I also recall in the content folder there was a random folder in there that was deleted, ever since then it has been doing this.

Since there are files deleted, have you tried recovering from a backup?

I’m not entirely sure how to do that, I believe there are no backups of the website. I just need the files with the missing Updates link.

Is ther a way to do this?

Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

So I tried this and the home page would then only show the header, in the WP admin nothing changed.

Any other ideas?
