We are getting reports from some users that when they are taken to the PayPal site they do no have a “Pay with Debit or Credit Card” option to pay. All they see is the PayPal account option. I have done several tests and when I try to place an order I always see the “Pay with Debit or Credit Card” option. But several users have sent me screen shots where they are not given that option. How can we fix this. We want everyone to be able to pay via their PayPal account OR with a credit card if they do not have a PayPal account. Thank you for your help.

    Hello @backpages

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.
I just checked your checkout page and am not seeing our plugins generic yellow PayPal button, so you are or not using our plugin, or you have adjusted the plugin so that it uses another button on the checkout (this will not work with our plugin, you need the PayPal button).

Please check what plugin you are using and let us know. I would expect that you are using the PayPal standard option that is not supported anymore (since March 2022). It would probably be best to update your plugin this plugin. Our plugin will also not need a popup or different window for inserting the credit card details, it can be all shown on the checkout page itself, so would also be a cleaner option for you.

    Pending your response.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hi Joost,

Thank you VERY much for the quick response. As near as I can tell we ARE using your plugin. Under plugins we have installed WooCommerce PayPal Payments Version 1.9.4. It is activated. It is the only PayPal plugin we have, so we must be using it, right?

When I go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments we have only one method enabled. It says “PayPal Standard – PayPal.” Under it there is another method called “PayPal.” Are you saying that is the method we should be using instead?

As for the button, I believe that we have used CSS to change the color of the button, but we have no substituted a different button.

Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it.

    Hello @backpages

so yes, you do have our plugin installed, but are only using the PayPal Standard payment method. So what you need to do is deactivate PayPal Standard and activate PayPal & Card Processing (depending on what you want to see).

After your deactivate PayPal Standard, I would advise to click on “PayPal and onobard your account via the onboarding wizard (Blue button “Activate PayPal”). If you only want to use the card payment option from our plugin, I would advise to onboard the plugin using the advanced options that are prompted on the page where you also see the blue onboarding button (take your time to open the options menu).

After you have onboarded the plugin, it might take some time before the advanced options are available, because this is relying on a vetting process and PayPal needs to approve your request before the advanced option become available. It should not be too hard to do, but if you need, here is some more documentation on the onboarding process of our plugin.

Don’t hesitate to ask again if you run into any issue.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hello Joost,

I was able to change the “Method” from “PayPal Standard” to “PayPal.” It was very easy, just one click of the button. Everything now appears to be working. We see the big yellow PayPal button on the checkout page and when you click on it a pop-up window appears offering the choice of logging into a PayPal account or using a credit card. However… When we access the same page via a phone, there is no option to use a credit card. Why would that be and how can we fix it? I can send you screen shots if necessary. Thank you for your continued help.

    Hello @backpages

what I think is the best thing to do is to activate the Payment Method “Card Processing”. This would show a card payment option that is integrated on the page, without the need for a popup. This payment method is controlled by our plugin, whereas the card option you are using now is controlled by PayPal from the server. Why it doesn’t show up for phones, is not within our control…, you would need to reach out to PayPal Merchant Technical Support if you want to continue using that option.

When you choose to use our Card Processing payment method, you might need to accept some additional terms and conditions, that can be found via this documentation (in case you did not go through this during the onboarding process before).

Please see if this works for you and if it resolves your issue. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
