Promising but overall a letdown
-
Although the plugin seemed to be exactly what we were looking for, we immediately stumbled upon lots of issues. The plugin doesn’t work with logged in users, so if you’re using a customer user type for loyal customers, the plugin will fail to track users who’ve logged in. After altering the plugin to include logged in users, we found out that some events were firing, whereas the purchase event (argumentatively the most important event) failed to fire – it failed to detect the default Woocommerce checkout hooks, nor did it fire after we implemented to Conversios custom hook on the thankyou page. After waiting for a couple of days (since the developers of the plugin mentioned that there might be issues with GA4s data delay) we still saw discrepancies in the data we saw in UA vs the data we saw in GA4, hence we applied for a refund. However, the refund request was declined, as the 15 day deadline had come & gone. Although we tried to argue that we spent the better part of the 15 days trying to get the plugin to function properly, the request was still declined.
In the end we configured custom dataLayer events & tracked all conversion funnel events via GTM. Took us a few hours & works a lot more effectively.
