    We have had 0 traffic in google discover since 9/20/2022. Stories are still being published and they appear to be indexed correctly in Google Search Console. But for some reason they don’t appear in Discover anymore. I think this was about the time we updated the plugin. We are stumped, and our tech resources are stumped.

  • Hi @gregwilsonstl thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately, we can only assist you with help and troubleshooting for the Web Stories plugin itself. Any issues relating to traffic drops fall out of the scope of this support forum. You can find more information on this in our pinned notice here.

    @gregwilsonstl it’s happening with me too, and i don’t know why.

    You think that is because the latest update? I will try to downgrade the version

    @adamdunnage thanks, but given all of the troubleshooting we have done, and the fact we are not alone, perhaps the issue is with the plug-in.

    Traffic didn’t just decrease. It went to zero.

    Can this be researched at least?

    @gregwilsonstl I appreciate that loss of traffic is a concern for you but there could be a number of reasons for this. I’d be happy to check your current setup if you would like to share your Site Health Information using our private form but as I mentioned previously, we can only assist you with help and troubleshooting for the Web Stories plugin itself. Any issues relating to traffic drops fall out of the scope of this support forum.

    I can also see from checking your Stories that they are passing AMP validation so from that point of view there doesn’t seem to be an issue from the plugin side in this case.

    @mikezielonka Unfortunately, we are limited to Web Stories plugin support on this forum. As pointed out in the pinned post, these traffic concerns are best addressed by the experts at Google Search Help community.

    This same issue gets mentioned many times in the forums. It’s a shame the reply is never that there may in fact be issues with the plug in. 0 traffic in Discover is not necessarily an issue with google. It could be an issue with the plug in. But the plug in support consistently sees the word traffic and replies that it isnt their problem.

    @gregwilsonstl couldn’t agree more!

    We understand how this can be frustrating but this support forum can only focus on assisting you with help and troubleshooting for the Web Stories plugin itself. If the Web Stories?passed the AMP validation and the Rich Results test then there isn’t anything from the Web Stories perspective that should be blocking you from receiving traffic. Any issues relating to traffic drops fall out of the scope of this support forum. Per?our pinned notice here, changes in Web Stories traffic are not unusual and can rely on many factors like content featured on Google Discover regularly changing, and Google Search constantly improving its algorithms, which can affect ranking. Please note that being eligible to appear in Discover is not a guarantee of appearing.

    In general, we recommend following the best practices for creating Web Stories and the Web Story content policies on Google, then reaching out to the product experts at Search Console and the Search Central help community for further advice.
