Change size of product image in single product template

Hello there,
I was wondering if you could provide me with some CSS (or functions.php snippet) to change the size of the product image (and the adjacent gallery) in the single product template, by either making both columns (image/gallery column and product info column) wider, and/or by changing the relative sizes of these two columns (e.g. 60/40). Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
