• I just got in my sites the warning about WordPress new version, 3.1
I’m trying to upgrade it automatically, but I got an error that I never had before:

    Unpacking the update…

    Verifying the unpacked files…

    Installing the latest version…

    Could not copy file.: /public_html/news/wp-admin/css/theme-editor.dev.css

    Installation Failed

My wp-content/upgrade folder is empty and chmoded, so I really don’t know what’s the problem.

I know you guys will tell me to do it manually. But the thing is: it used to work, so something has changed and I really appreciate any help.

  • I’m having the same problem.

I’m also have the same issue–does anyone have any ideas outside of the manual upgrade? I’m hoping that the automatic upgrade isn’t broken with the 3.1 changes now.

I have exactly the same problem (repeatedly). And so far it’s come up on two completely different WordPress installations on different servers. I’ve tried all the usual tricks (deleting the Upgrades folder, disabling plug-ins and checking the permissions) but no joy. Like colleenharr, I’m very concerned that the automatic updates route may have become flawed and would welcome any further updates about this. It seems too much of a coincidence that it’s the same file that doesn’t copy every time. Other users seem to be getting the same issue (try Googling). Let’s hope we get some news on this…

I have the same problem as well.

    Anyone has any solution?

I am trying to upgrade to version 3.0.1

I’m having the same problem and not only that but the pages on my blog now have an excerpt from the page displaying funny at the top above my banner that wasn’t there before. any ideas how to fix this? It looks really weird.
