    Hello,

we are using a Subscription form without the Captcha option because of GDPR. Since a few days we′ve been receiving a lot of Spam Mails via the form.
Can you please tell us if there is an alternative option to Google Recaptcha to block/filter the Spam?
For example, for our Contact Forms (CF 7) we are using Honeypot.

    Best regards

    Hi,

    Thanks for contacting us !

As an alternative, I’d recommend you to use the Double opt-in confirmation for your mails instead of the Single opt-in confirmation.
This way, very few spam bots will be able to to subscribe through Double opt-in confirmation, which will make your list cleaner.

However, the Recaptcha option is the best way to prevent spam bots.

I remain at your disposal for any information.

    Best Regards,

    Sendinblue Support Team.

    Hi,

    thanks for your response.

We already use the double optin confirmation, but we get the spam “Undelivered Mail” emails for the double optin confirmation in our mail account, there are a lot on some days and it takes time to delete them.

Is it possible to use a honeypot for the Forms to prevent spam bots? Is there something that works / is compatible with the Sendinblue Subscribe Form?

    Best Regards

Since lawyers in Germany now goes again such services – which sideload Google fonts like reCaptcha – there should be indeed another way avoiding spam sign ups. Double opt in as said is not a solution, as it will produce bounces etc.

    Thanks for looking into this!

I just came across the same issue. My server is sending out an insane amount of “Please confirm your subscription emails” due to all the spam subscribers, making my unique IP at risk of being marked as spam.

Due to GDPR Google Recaptcha is not an option, so I’m going to look into creating a simple honeypot add-on for the Sendinblue WordPress plugin. If you like, I can share a link here when it’s done.

It would be great if you would share your result / add-on here. As far as we know, there is no alternative solution from the plugin / from Sendinblue.
    Thanks!
