• Hey WordPress Community,

I’ve found it real difficult to figure out how to include category names in my search query. I’ve found plugins that allows me to get a drop down and select a category to search IN but i want the names of the category to be included in the search, not search in any category. I want this for all categories, i’ve googled for hours without results, any happy coder want to give me a hint in the right direction that would be great.

    Thank you!

oh id like to add i’ve tried all the search plugins, like Search Unleashed and Search Everything, none of these give me any result at all, they do manage to search pages and tags but yet no hits from the category names. Could it be theme issues?

No one? Maybe anyone could help me find a plugin which allows me to enter keywords that are searchable which does not have to be displayed to the end user, i’ve looked for one but i couldn’t find it.

    Thanks!

I was searching for a solution to this and the plugin Search Everything actually does this. At least it worked on the site I implemented it on.

Just remember to select “Yes” in the preferences, to the right of “Search every category name and description.”

I hope that answers your question!

Let me add that though this plugin says it’s only good up through 2.9, it works fine on 3.0.1

it didn’t work for me, I’m using qtranslate
