I am using Kadence Blocks with Twentig and the Twenty Twenty Two theme.

I have a table of contents block inserted on each post. The TOC works fine on desktop, but not at all on mobile.

On mobile, the links display active states, etc., but when you click on them, you go nowhere. It’s as if they are null links.

I have checked to be sure the id is in place on the h2’s on both desktop and mobile. It is. Nothing is different between the two versions.

To trouble-shoot, I’ve also tried other TOC blocks. One, which uses the shortcode to insert it, gives me the same result I described above except clicking on a link in the TOC sends you straight to the top of the page.

The other TOC block I tried gives basically the same result as the Kadence block.

I have submitted this issue to Twentig support via this same forum, but no response yet.

I would appreciate any assistance you can give me. I prefer to use the Kadence block for the TOC. All other Kadence blocks that I use on the site work fine. And again, the TOC works fine except on mobile.

    Thanks.

    Hey,
Apologies for the delay. Your TOC does not want to work for desktop either… Do you have multiple TOC plugins running right now? Be sure to deactivate what you are not using so they do not conflict. Also, be sure to activate Kadence Blocks Pro. You can find your API key here: https://www.kadencewp.com/my-account/
If the issue still remains check out some troubleshooting methods here: https://www.kadencewp.com/blog/how-to-troubleshoot-your-website/
Please report back if the issue continues for you!

    Kindly,
    Hannah

Through one of the other TOC block creators, I discovered that there had been two of each heading in the code. This happened because I had built the post template with one block for mobile only and another for desktop and tablet. That kept any of the TOCs from knowing where a click on the links should take the reader.

I removed the extra block that had been intended for mobile and the issue went away with all three plugins. Kadence was working beautifully on mobile and desktop. I did not know until you replied that it had stopped working again.

The only thing I did after the TOC started working was to remove the other two TOC plugins. I saw no reason to keep them.

I don’t know if that could have caused the current TOC to not work now. I can see in the code that there are no anchors on the headings. There are in the TOC but not in heading code. Shouldn’t there be?

I can’t activate Pro because I only use the free version.

PS: By the question, shouldn’t there be anchors for the headings, I meant shouldn’t they have been placed automatically by the plugin?

I am inserting the block as a reusable block so the block will maintain the styling. Could that cause the issue?

I removed the TOC block from the reusable block and reinserted it. The TOC started working on desktop, but still doesn’t on mobile.

Regarding my earlier comment about there being no anchors in the heading tags, apparently the TOC block uses some other method because there are none in the desktop or mobile devices, yet it works in desktop and not in mobile.

I have replaced the TOC with a different plugin.

    Thank you.

Let us know if you decide to come back to the Kadence TOC and we would be happy to help get things working as they should.
