Duplicated databse, affecting a different website

    I have 2 versions of my site, one we use for testing and the actual live site. I wanted to reset my testing site to match the live site, so i copied all the files and used duplicator to copy the database from the live onto the test. However after installing the database its now broken my live site (even though i changed nothing on that site). Any ideas how duplicating and installing a db from one site onto another can break the former site?

  • Hey @saf94,

    When you migrated the database did you make sure to enter the new test database settings and not the production ones? The only way this could happen is if you are sharing the same database credentials (namely the database name) on both your production and test sites, each site should have a separate database name in the wp-config.php file.
