Block Editor Issues
-
I have started to convert my website from classical to block editor and having serious issues.
Running 6.0.1 on Ubuntu Linux 22.04 (Linux 5.15.0-46-generic x86_64), Apache/2.4.54 (Ubuntu), 10.6.7-MariaDB-2ubuntu1.1, PHP version 8.1.9.
All tests pass on a Site Health Check.
I am using Cloudflare with a bypass Page Rule on wp-admin, so edits to pages should not be cached.
“https://play.hymnswithoutwords.com/wp-admin/* Cache Level: Bypass”Issue 1. Changes to Posts are arbitrarily saved, or not. I find changes I have made are sometimes saved, but not always. Usually the changes are there if I do a preview, but they do not seem to stay when I publish the post – the link above is an example in point – it reverted to its classical editor original after being published as a block editor post. Frequently, if I go to edit a post, I am told a newer auto draft is available, and I have to restore it. Indicating the latest version was not saved.
Issue 2. I successfully created some new categories for a post this morning. However, they do not appear in the Category list when I tried to add them to another block editor post. They do however appear in the Category list of a classical editor post.
Issue 3. Blocks seem to get corrupted and then need repairing. It is nice to have a repair function, but why should they corrupt in the first place?
Issue 4. After adding a block to reusable blocks, they do not appear to be available in resuable blocks when editing a new post.
I have 100’s of pages to convert and am disappointed that the Block Editor seems to be unreliable.
