    Hello,

1# We enable “Strip Category Base” before, so all of URL pattern looks like this way: https://mysite.com/product-tile

    2# There are several categories:
    women’s US fashion
    women minimal
    women’s Paris fashion

For now, we need to enable category base for better SEO purposes, and set all of that three categories into one: Women’s fashion, so that all of product permalink looks like in this way:

    https://mysite.com/women’s fashion/women’s US fashion
    https://mysite.com/women’s fashion/women minimal
    https://mysite.com/women’s fashion/women’s Paris fashion

To avoid 404 page error when a customer access the page from a google search, how and what I should set please?

Thanks and have a great day.

    Hello @alexliii,

Thank you for contacting the support.

Please note that the Strip Category Base option strips the base of only the category URLs and it does not have any effect on the product URLs.

As you mentioned in your 2# point, if those are category URLs, by default, they would have the base “category” and when enabling the Strip Category Base option, the base would be removed from the URLs.

For more details, please have a look at this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/remove-wordpress-category-base/

In the final URLs that you’ve shared, could you confirm what is “women’s fashion”? Is it a parent category or a category base?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Yes, the “women’s fashion” is parent category, and it has not been created yet, but we just want to create it as parent category, then set all women’s US fashion, women minimal and women’s Paris fashion as subcategories of “women’s fashion”.

You know the products permanent link will changed, and it will show 404 errors if anyone access the old permanent link like google organic search.

Any suggestions in this situation pleases?

    Thanks

    Hello @alexliii,

You are essentially changing the permalink structure completely on your website.

If you want to proceed with this, we would recommend creating redirections from the old URLs to the new ones to prevent those 404 errors and also prevent a dip in traffic.

You can use our Redirections module to create those redirections on your website.

While we are at it, we highly recommend going through the following guide to set up the plugin completely and correctly:

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
