Hi, when the profile completion message is turned on (Tutor LMS > Settings > Advanced > Options), there isn’t a way to dismiss the message after the user completes the steps to complete their profile. Is there a way to make it so that the message is dismissable, so that it isn’t constantly showed to the user even after their profile is complete, since it is kind of pointless then?

  • Hello @tubescreamer,

As soon as students complete their profile info the notification for completing profile info on the dashboard disappears.

You can temporarily activate a default WP theme to troubleshoot. Remember to flush cache.

Okay i’m a bit confused.. I created a new test student account and for the profile completion steps, it only showed “Set your profile picture” and a button to go to the settings page to set the profile picture. Then when I set the picture, I went back to the dashboard and I didn’t see any other steps to take to complete the profile.

HOWEVER, on my admin/instructor account, this is what I see:

It shows 3 steps to complete the profile as compared to the 1 step I see as a student, which is to set the profile picture (I know the student won’t have to complete the withdraw method step because that is for instructors only). But what about the bio for students?

Also, for instructors that message doesn’t go away, even after completion. It just stays there.. It does go away for students though, after they have uploaded a profile picture.

    Hello @tubescreamer,

Please activate a default WordPress theme or Tutor Starter theme to test this issue. Fill up bio and other fields for students so the warning will disappear. The image you shared is not visible. You can upload your images to Google drive or Dropbox.

    Hello @munayam

As you requested, I have tested further. I created a staging site and enabled your Tutor Starter theme and kept only the Tutor LMS plugin activated. I then created a student account, and it only showed 1 step for profile completion, like I mentioned earlier – which was just to upload a profile picture. The profile completion section also isn’t styled as nicely as it is for Instructors. However, after uploading a profile picture, the notice went away without showing a profile completion success message. (It returns only if you remove the profile picture afterwards.)

Secondly, I created an Instructor account and I saw the three steps for profile completion, which was to upload a profile picture, set a bio and set a withdraw method. After completing all of these steps, I went back to the dashboard and it showed the success message for completing the profile, as normal. There is no “X” button to dismiss this success message/section to the top of the dashboard and reloading the page does not remove it either.. It just stays there. This message should be dismissable, or disappear after it is seen for the first time, as there is no point for the user to see this more than once after they have already completed their profile.

    So tldr;

    1. Student’s profile completion should include more stuff than just uploading a profile picture to make it more interactive. (Student Bio, Skill/Occupation maybe?)
    2. Student’s profile completion section should be styled nicely just like the instructor’s version.
    3. Student’s profile completion should show a success message that is dismissible after completion, so student doesn’t keep seeing the success message at the top of their dashboard.
    4. Instructor’s profile completion should be dismissible after completion, so instructor doesn’t keep seeing the success message at the top of their dashboard.

    EDIT:

I also noticed another issue. After removing the Instructor role from someone, even though the Instructor dashboard links from the sidebar have disappeared, it will still show the Instructor’s profile completion section to the top, including the “Set Withdraw Method” link, even though the user is now just a student. This should be changed so that it shows the Student’s profile completion section instead (if it hasn’t already been completed/dismissed), if an Instructor has their role removed and is now a student/subscriber.

Please test on your end the above things I noted and let me know if you see the same. I have tried to outline everything as best as I can.

    Hello @tubescreamer,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and findings between the differences between students and instructors profile completion steps. I’ve shared them with my team. We shall improve them in our upcoming updates.

Thanks. Though the main issue is not so much the difference between the student and instructor profile completion steps, but the fact that they can’t be dismissed after the steps are completed and it just stays there to the top of the dashboard.

    Hello @tubescreamer,

The differences are in the design. Students profile completion notification dismisses itself after filling the profile form fields and instructors notification displays a green tick mark.
