Why 100’s of cron events?

If you are seeing a huge number of cron jobs causing CPU issues, we would recommend setting up a custom cron job as described in our guide here:

On most hosts the default cron option works without issue, however we have seen certain combinations of hosting and/or site config where the regular cron can cause high CPU usage. In those cases, switching to the Linux cron option should alleviate that.
