• Last week when I installed a new theme corrupted my blog. My hosting company had a backup done couple days before and they asked me to pay to restore it.

Since than I want to do regular backups for my sites and want your help.

What is the best practice backup, is it through plug-ins, tools>export or should I use documentation under codex to beck up entire site.
If codex is the best solution, they are several links, please let me know whats best solution to backup entire site and easy to import it back…..

  • there are many plugins to backup your entire database… take a look around the repository…

I use this one, works great. Can email your db save to you, or store it on server

So that takes care of your posts, content, etc.

After that, I do a backup of my important files (basically the wp-content folder) by ftp weekly if I’ve been doing any theme changes or uploading photos. You can copy all WP files if you want, but wp-content folder is where theme, plugins, and uploads go. The rest of the stuff is WP core files, which I can just download from WP site again.

    That’s how I handle it
