Blog shows blank screen and can't access admin page

  • Hi all,

    After installing WP 2.8.2, I tried to visit the blog but all I can see is a blank page. I can’t even access the admin page as well. It runs fine for version WP2.6.5 and below.

    I’m using a standalone PC to act as my blog server and the specs as below:

    OS: Windows XP Professional SP2
    CPU: Pentium 4 3.20GHz
    RAM: 1Gb
    Apache 2.2.3
    MySQL 5.0
    PHP 5.2

    Could it be that it’s not “powerful” to run the newer WP versions? I couldn’t pin point the cause of the problem. Please help, thank you! ??

    It was probably caused by a plugin or theme that was incompatible with 2.8.

    Try resettings your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename everything except the /default/ directory. This will force the Default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

    Once you’re stabilized, please consider moving up to WP 3.0. Though 2.8.2 is newer than your current version, it’s still full of publicly known security vulnerabilities.
