• I have been using WordPress for years on several sites, and I don’t recall having this problem until recently.

I have both “Email me whenever Anyone posts a commnt” and “A comment is held for moderation” boxes ticked. But now when people comment, I only get the email if they are a new commenter. Old commenters don’t generate an email.

I have the “Before a comment appears Comment must be manually approved” box blank, but “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” box ticked. I wonder whether the logic that determines if a commenter has commented before is somehow messing up the email function.

I have searched the forum and I see many people having problems with this email function, but I didn’t find anyone having this exact problem.

Has anyone got any ideas please?

Another strange thing. When I do a second anonymous trial comment, I don’t get a notification. The comment appears when I am logged in but doesn’t (after an hour so far) appear when I am not logged in. i.e. the visitor doesn’t see their comment, even though it isn’t held for moderation.

    Something is different.

Further, I deactivated all my plugins and got the same result.

    Any thoughts please?

Anyone had the same problem of emails advising of a new commenter but not an approved commenter? Thanks.

This is still a major problem for me. Does anyone have a solution please?

This problem is still occurring for me. It would be really nice to get an answer, as at present I don’t always get to reply to a comment in reasonable time.
