[Plugin: qTranslate] works with Hybrid?

normally I use WPML for any bi/multilingual website, but for a new site I want to use a Zingiri webshop and that plugin not only doesn’t play nice with WPML, it actually recommends to use qtranslate. So far so good.
However, I am also using a Hybrid Child theme and together with qtranslate, the entire site comes crashing down on me!
Any ideas?
