• I am trying to make a page on my web site that will serve only as a reference for me. So, I want to be able to access it but not have the whole world see it. First I saved the page as private and bookmarked the Permalink. When I did this, of course, I did not see the page link on my web site. However, the bookmark did not work. My web site is indexed by Google and has a Google search bar, so I got the Google “Ooops” page when I tried the bookmark.

Next, I saved the page as a draft, but I had the same problem as I did when it was private. The bookmark didn’t work.

I thought I solved the problem by saving it as a public page with no title. Since there was no title, there was no page link showing on my web site. The bookmark worked. However, Google indexed the page. So, someone searching for text that happens to be on that page would see it in the search results. I thought Google would not index it since there was no visible page link (no title, no visible link).

Is there a way to do what I want to do — make a page visible only to me where the bookmark will work and Google will not index it?

    Thanks!
