My google search console url inspection continues to return with the following code

‘noindex’ detected in ‘robots’ meta tag

I’ve searched every forum and tried countless things but to no avail. Please help me with this as it appears to be hindering my site from being found via google search. I need to enable my site to be indexed.

Please follow the @mdshak and if even you are not able to find then check your SEO plugin if you installed. Even if you not able to find it then go your file root directory and then is there any robots.txt file exist. If so then check that file it will have noindex tag.

    Hope this will help you.

    Thank you.

Ive done the steps @mdshak suggested however they do not seem to work.

When I go into file managers I’ve been unsuccessful at finding any type of code that includes ‘robot’ or ‘no index’.

The WordPress theme I’m using is Kadence and I’m not sure if the answer is for me to change to a different theme or not. Nothing seems to work.

@sharpe1990 – It should work. I would suggest to clear the cache of web browser, check with another browser and disable all type cache plugins, server cache.

@mdshak – I’ve done the above. Cleared the cache, disabled the server cache. Checked and unchecked the box under the reading section. Still getting the… “No: ‘noindex’ detected in ‘robots’ meta tag “ in google console.

Please share the url of your website. I will debug and give you correct solution of this issue.

I search and not found any no-index at your website. So This issue seems related with Google Search Console Crawler cache. You can submit your URL to re-crawl.

How to submit a URL for a recrawl in GSC Inspection Tool

Log on to Google Search Console (opens in a new tab).
        Choose a property.
Submit a URL from the website you want to get recrawled.
        Click the Request Indexing button.

If it does not resolve it. I would suggest to contact to Google about this issue.

Thank you. I have performed the steps above and requested indexing. How long does the process take? Or how long should I wait before contacting google if my site doesn’t seem to index?

@mdshak Hi dear can you help me sort out the same issue am facing? I tried removing the noidex code <meta name=’robots’ content=’noindex, nofollow’ />

even disabled from reading section, am not getting what it hold.

I have been dealing with this as well. three quarters of my post are listed with GSC as noindex yet they are not constructed that way. I have been using Yoast premium for 3 yrs and I have been getting them involved. While they seems to think I can creating the issue somehow, this is not the case.

They suggest I go through those post, check each out then resubmit. In my case, that’s literally 100’s of post!

I sometimes feel that it is simply Google exercising their dominance over some content or posters.

It’s like kicking a 50 ton sponge, no real effect.

    So frustrating!

Did anyone try the Test the Robots.TXT Blocking feature in Search Console? I hadn’t tried it before and have been having same issues with multiple sites. After doing a bit of looking I looked into Yoast’s answer to the robots.txt file and there is a spot in the plugin under Tools to add in a robots.txt file. I went ahead and did the suggested on one site and then submitted for indexing again with Search Console so once that goes through I will update this thread. This is kind of a last resort option for me, but I agree with chainsawchicken. I have been using Yoast for the past 8 years and never had this type of issue… ridiculous.

I found one solution for this issue. I tried it for my site & finally issue got resolved. I am using rankmath SEO plugin. solution steps are given below.
1- Got to your WP site.
2- Click on rankmath under plugin.

    3. Select title & meta

    4. click on author

No you can see ” Author Robots Meta”. just untick the no index box & select index box.
    your issue will resolve.

    Indexing request rejected

Hi – I am trying to launch my site and getting individuals to test it. I have submitted to Google Search to be indexed as when the individuals typed in the website address it did not bring them into the website from Google or other search engines. Google Search Console is returning an “Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag” message. I have already untick the “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” in WordPress but I am still getting this message. Can you advise how to fix this? I am not very technical and trying to do all this myself so not sure what to do? Will I need a web developer to fix this?
