    Hello,

    Why am I seeing the error “A phone number is required to complete your checkout through Amazon Pay.” when clicking Amazon Pay on Checkout? Surely this is not necessary?

    I am using the Hello Elementor theme.

    Hello @opnavisuals,

    This feature will be added in the near future but only to digital products, currently work is completed and in testing.

    For other products, it is required by Amazon policy

    Hello,

    I have looked at the update, and it still requires a phone number on checkout (but not from the Cart).

    I have also looked at Amazon Pay policies, and cannot find anything about this.

    Please let me know.

    Hope you are doing well!

    the phone number is required for Physical products, and it’s not required for virtual/downloadable products.

    If you use the express checkout on Cart or Checkout the phone number should be already on the Amazon account. for the classic checkout, it depends on the type of product.

    Hi Christian,

    I moved my customer over to Woocommerce from OpenCart, and this was never a problem on the old platform – and the products are still the same.

    I read through the Amazon policies, and could not find anything relating to this.

    Can you please advise if this is a new policy? Just so that I can relay this information to my client, as we are currently having a worse checkout flow because of this.

    Is a restriction made by Amazon on the API, here is the documentation.

    So resuming only is required for Physical products (PayAndShip product type).

    Is it, at all, possible to use ProductType ‘SignIn’ on the Checkout page?

    I assume this is the ProductType used on Cart, which works great.

    Hey @opnavisuals ,

    The API only accepts productType only accepts PayAndShip or PayOnly. So I don’t think it’s possible to use ProductType SignIn.

    • PayAndShip -> Physical products that require Shipping, for this type of products the phone is always required.
    • PayOnly -> Virtual/Downloadable products don’t requires shipping, for this type of products the phone is not required.

    Yes, I understand that much.

    What I do not understand, is the difference between Cart and Checkout?

    Same product(s). On Cart I can use Amazon perfectly fine, in Checkout I need to add a phone#. What is the difference?

    Adding the phone number on Checkout feels really disruptive, to an otherwise nice checkout flow.

    Hey @opnavisuals

    on Cart, you are directly using the Amazon Pay express checkout button. In those cases, the phone will always be available because is a required field when you add a new shipping address to your Amazon account.

    On the Checkout page, you have 2 options, the same Express checkout button as on the Cart page. Or the classic Checkout form. For this last one, it will be required the phone number is you don’t fill in for Physical products.
