AV Club and Custom Fields

  • is there any place (other than the codex) that explains custom fields in-depth? Everything I find assumes the website has been built by a developer and handed off to the end user. I don’t have that. I need instructions from start to finish. Want to learn how to do this.

    https://www.avclub.com/channels/books/ – Don’t need specifics but I’d like to know the general method that AV Club uses to get that main content column to look like that. I guess it’s some sort of list, but how do they get the formatting?
