Developing a restaurant website

  • Hi there,
    I’m planning to build a website for a restaurant with online ordering, and I don’t know where to start lol. I don’t know what plugins to use, woocommerce or gloriafood? (or something else). So the website should have individual payment or subscription plans, custom meal builder, gift cards, coupons authentication, blog functionality, delivery and grab&go.
    I plan to build the theme from scratch using a boilerplate,so I guess I have to use something with clear documentation. I haven’t found it for gloriafood though.
    What would you guys do?

    In the paragraph before this, you said you didn’t know where to start. And now you want to build a theme from scratch!

    Are you proficient in PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS? If not, can you afford to spend months learning how to program to be able to build your theme from scratch?

    PS: If possible, how much would a website like this cost?

    Sorry for being ambiguous.

    I think I’m comfortable with php, not a lot but can get myself around. For Javascript html and css yes. I’ve already had some experience with custom theme development so I feel okay at it.

    The first thing to do, which is by far the most important thing, is to figure out exactly what you need. Until then there’s no point even thinking about starting because you will be starting on.. what? I don’t know, you don’t know, no one knows!

    Your examples say it all. As an example – “should have individual payment or subscription plans”. If you don’t even know that basic requirement there’s no way to know what you’ll need to accomplish the end result.

    When you figure out what’s needed, that’s when you look for the plugins that can offer that functionality. After you have that, then you can start thinking about the theme.
