I see that the changes in the theme settings for posts change the front page post area and the blog area as well at the same time. Is there a way to change the post list to 1 column?

Hi,
Please note that the theme was not designed for 1-column posts list layout.
But you should be able to force it with this custom CSS:
body .posts.posts.posts .entry { width: calc(100% - 2em); }
Please note that I provide support via https://support.webmandesign.eu/

Thanks. The css worked out.
How come the theme isn’t designed for 1-column posts list layout?
Just a design decision. Actually, when the theme was released, there were no options to set columns either and everything was in 3 columns only.
Still I don’t consider Modern to be suited for 1-column posts layout. You can check my other themes for such layout.
