• Hi!

I’m encountering a strange issue with the Wishlist plugin.

When visiting our website in an incognito browser window and without being logged in to the admin area (!) and add a product to the wishlist, the product turns out to be absent from the wishlist… The wishlist page is correctly setup in any case.

The wishlist remains empty, even after clearing my browsers before testing this…

BUT: when I log in to the WordPress admin area as an admin, then the wishlist does work correctly…

Also when I log out again and the try the wishlist, it keeps working…

I have consulted the people at Getbowtied whose Hanger theme we’re using and they say the bug must be in the Wishlist plugin…

Thank you for your help with getting this issue fixed!

    Frederic

    Hi Frederic,
    hope you’re doing well!

Could you provide us with the link to your site?

Do you have the latest version of the plugin installed?

Our plugin creates a session cookie for each guest user, and this makes it possible for them to add items to their wishlist. This does not happen when logging in.

The problem is likely to be cache related. Do you use any caching plugin, or do you have server-side caching?

We will be attentive to your response.

    Have a nice weekend!

    Hi Juan,

The Wishlist actually also doesn’t work with the Storefront theme which I switched to during a new test, so it’s not related to the theme apparently.

I also disabled all caching tools on server and client side during the test, and the conclusion remains that for some odd reason the wishlist only works correctly when logged in.

So when not logged in, the heart icon shows that you add a product to the wishlist, but when you open the wishlist page (which includes the [yith_wcwl_wishlist] code), there’s nothing in the list…

Can you take a look at https://www.anversamaison.lu and see if you find anything unusual that I may be overlooking here?

    Thank you!

    Hello Frederic,
    thanks for your reply.

We have checked your site and we can see that the cookie is created correctly when adding a product to the wishlist, but it is strange that there are no items in the table.

You can do the following tests to rule out that the problem does not come from a conflict with another plugin/theme:

    – Switch to a default WordPress theme, for example 2022.
    – Leave only active WooCommerce and our plugin.
    – Check if any of these steps solves the problem.

We will be attentive to your response.

    Have a nice weekend!

    Hi Juan,

I have performed this test again like you suggested and found that in both the default WP 2022 as the Storefront theme I could now establish that the plugin does indeed work correctly. I tested as well again with the Hanger and with all plugins disabled and it didn’t work, so it’s indeed theme related…

I’m therefore getting back in touch with the theme developer with this same feedback, hopefully the strange issue can be resolved somehow.

Thank you for your help and have a great weekend!
