Read messages are alyways displayed as unread messages

Hello,
what a wonderful plugin! Really great. When I receice and read a message it will always not affect the message counter for new message (in the menu and the profile tab, I am using ultimate mamber). When I refresh, delete cache and refresh, log out and login again – all messages will always be shown as unread. How can I fix this?

Hi, I don’t know how to solve this problem.
I have used the health plugin to deactivate and reactivate each single plugin and theme. I still have the problem. Every ajax-admin.php call has the data:
{“messages”:[],”threads”:[],”total_unread”:3}
Total_unread never changes. I just goes up.
I have no cache plugin. I am using Avada, wpforo and ultimate member. Any ideas?
Are you sure that counter is coming from Better Messages plugin?
Yes. The counter is from your docs. But it does not matter because the console is loggin the same and in the threads overview the number for new messages e.g. +5 is just increasing.
Do you have UM Messages plugin active or any other one?
No, I have no other message plugin installed.
