[Plugin: Announcement and vertical scroll news] Can’t insert into database with WP 3.0

I’m having a problem trying to insert any announcement entry into the database using WordPress 3.0 with this plugin.
Each time I try to insert an announcement the update/insert routine fails silently and nothing is put into the database.
Has anyone successful had this plugin work under WordPress 3.0 ?
