Make it work with less memory

  • v3 has caused my web host to go nuts claiming it uses to much memory. They in turn preset the mem limit to 16m and it can not be changed in PHP. It would be great if you could work out a way to have WP work with less memory otherwise no more upgrades for me.

  • Yes, I faced this problem as well. This should be taken care of!

    16M is a ridiculous limitation! I’d suggest that you look around for a new host. And remember – you get what you pay for, so don’t just go for the cheapest option.

    For a comparison, most reputable hosting providers cap PHP’s memory at 32mb (which is more than enough for WordPress), but allow you to increase the limit via php.ini or .htaccess as long as you don’t make a habit out of abusing the privilege.
