    While the Codex is down, why not take advantage of the time to help teach a few things you know about how this all works. All I ask is that you start the title with the word Lesson: so we know it isn’t a question as much as a lesson. I’ll list a couple to get started.

    If you have the knowledge, give us a little tidbit and maybe some resources to learn more and then check in for some questions that will come up. Keep it simple and short. And enjoy.

    Just trying to help everyone give back in a way that goes beyond “help me” to “I’m helping you”.

    Also the “Lesson:” portion makes it easy to turn up in a search.

    Exactly!

    You know, this Lesson: project isn’t limited to only the Template and Design section. No reason we can’t have a few “lessons” in the other sections as well to help people out.

    This is rocking now. The following “lessons” have been posted:

    Lesson Tip: Use the Firefox Developer Plugins
    Lesson: Styling the postmetadata section
    Lesson: I Make Changes and Nothing Happens
    Lesson: Using Divider Icons in Selected Themes
    Lesson: Playing with The WordPress Loop
    Lesson: Debugging layouts with the DOM-inspector
    Lesson: Web Page Design and Accessibility
    Lesson: Rollover Links

    With more on the way, I’m sure.

    Got a topic you are an expert in? Something that challenged you in WordPress and you figured it out? We’d love you to share it. We just ask that you start the title of the subject with Lesson: and be specific in the title.

    Let’s learn from each other!

    Here are a few requests I’ve gotten for lessons. If you are an “expert” in any of these, please post them (with the title Lesson: and specific title) in the appropriate forum section. If you don’t know how to say thank you for WordPress being free and open source, this is one way.

    And thank you in advance!

    * Working with individual “Pages” – all topics
    * Understanding wp_list_cats()
    * Understanding specific Template Tags
    * CSS – the 3-column layout
    * CSS bugs and hacks for browsers
    * CSS – Moving the Sidebar Menu from Right to Left
    * WordPress International Issues
    * CSS – Styling Blockquotes
    * Creating a Site Map or Table of Contents
    * Developing Plugins of your very own
    * Tracking down CSS errors
    * Tracking down PHP code errors
    * CSS – Making Your Header Stand Out
    * CSS – Styling the Sidebar Menu with it’s many lists
    * Working with Nested Lists – Understanding the WordPress sidebar

    If you have a topic you would like to see in a Lesson, please add it here. And if we have anyone duplicating each other’s efforts, who cares. We have a lot to learn from everyone and the same thing may be done differently by someone else. No hard and fast rules here, but helping everyone out.

    Root,

    Your experience and knowledge with CSS and design, among other skills, would be welcomed by WordPressers old and new.

    I don’t know about welcomed ?? but thank you for your kind sentiments. I suffer from a compulsive disorder as regards WP templates. ?? OT: Your kind donation of prizes to the AKSC is a fine gesture and much appreciated by the community.
    Just wanted to mention it.

    Root,
    Thanks for your comments. Sometimes we need people to shake the trees to see what falls out of them. ?? I’ve learned much from your templates and I look forward to seeing what other stuff you have up your sleeve!

    (@root)

    Well we are definitely cooking up some stuff.
