Tech Support not very helpful, documentation isn’t as in depth as should be.
-
I’ve been using the paid version of GeoDirectory for almost a month.
It is indeed amazing.
However, getting to the edge cases, where you want to do things in a very custom way, the documentation gets a bit squirrely – or perhaps just not very in depth.
I’ve contacted tech support a few times.
As far as turn around time, very responsive.
There are a few issues:
1) Based on answers, it appears that the full context of what I wrote was not read.
2) The answer given back are very, very terse. I’ve ALREADY read the documentation pointed out, but I need further info.
Without those two issues, I would have given 5 stars. There is some customization that Geo Directory has provided the exact needed info (such as php snippets, or CSS) that is quite helpful.
One negative is that the tech support appears to be email based – and I imagine that there are thousands of questions that would be beneficial to have an open forum discussing them.
I will continue to use this product, as it will provide the needed functionality, pre-built, without requiring hundreds (thousands?) of man hours to get to the same point.
I did initial installs on development/throw-away sites, to gain the necessary understanding garnered so far as to how the pieces work together.
I should have done more testing, as there are some minor issues that need to be addressed on a now live site, and of course the necessity to not mess up a live site is quite concerning.
I’m giving this software 3 stars.
I removed a star for the documentation not being as it should.
I removed a star because of the poor response from Tech Support. (hello Alex Rollin !!)
