[Plugin: @ Reply] Validation fail, formatting error

I love this plugin and am very keen to use it, however…
When it places itself in the text area, the preceding ‘close paragraph’ tag disappears, throwing formatting into disaray. I’ve tested this on my own custom themes, and on a clean install of WP3 with the same result.
