After updating to 1.19.0, today, the Dashboard is not loading up properly. It says error with CDN, while I don’t use any. I am afraid if updating this plugin on my other websites will also do the same.
What you guys are waiting for to fix it?

  • Hi @robinl1 thanks for getting in touch. I can see that you have replied on another topic so thanks for sharing your info but if you could keep it in this thread that would be great.

Would you please be able to share the exact error message you are referring to the CDN as this may be useful.

Could you also please share your Site Health information or You can share privately if you prefer via this form.

    Hi Adam
Here is what I see when Ii try to add a new story –
    Unable to load media
We detected a potential misconfiguration that prevents media items from loading correctly. This may be due to media being hosted on an external CDN. Learn how to address this or submit a new support topic for additional help.
    I hope that helps.
PS: I am sorry for posting it somewhere else.

@robinl1 Thank you for sharing that error message.

The plugin’s video optimization feature requires a feature called cross-origin isolation. For this to work, external resources being loaded from a different host need to provide an Access-Control-Allow-Origin header.

If your site loads JavaScript files from a different subdomain, then your CDN needs to provide this Access-Control-Allow-Origin response header for all these assets. Access-Control-Allow-Origin: https://www.yourdomain.com or the less restrictive Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * should work.

Please contact your website administrator or hosting provider to further assistance with setting the header.

You do also have the option to disable video optimization in the Web Stories settings, which will also disable the cross-origin isolation and the need for these headers.

    Hi Luckyna Sa
Thank you for trying to help me. I don’t use videos, nevertheless I disabled that option in the settings, and that didn’t help. Moreover, I don’t have any subdomain or CDN for my this website where I am having the issue.
So, obviously not related to my website or the server/hosting.

@robinl1 Thanks for your response. My apologies, you did state that you are not using any CDN. Could we check for any plugin conflicts? To safely simulate this, could you try using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely because it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.

    1. Enable the Web Stories plugin and let me know if you still get the issue.
    2. If there are no issues, then enable plugins and your theme one by one in this mode to pinpoint if something else is involved.

Could you open your dev tools and check for any console errors? Are there any failed requests in the dev tools Network tab? Please let me know if you need support on this.

Let’s start here to rule out any conflicts with plugins and themes.

    Ok Guys
Here is an update on the issue. Though that msg is still on the dashboard, but after dismissing it, I could create and publish a new story without any problems.
So, I will consider that to be fixed since my work is getting done.
However, if you people can work and fix that irritating msg displayed on the dashboard, whenever I click on Add a new story, please.
    Regards and thanks!

@robinl1 Thank you for the update. I can understand how that can be frustrating, so I’d like to investigate further as to why that message was displayed for you.

It’s important to have as much information as possible, so if you could provide your Site Health information it could give us some additional clues.

@nirajsheladiya We’ll be happy to check on this for you, but could you please open a new topic per forum guidelines? Please include your Site Health information and story URL in that topic as well.

We fixed it by checking the Network tab and saw a lot of mixed content errors, please make sure your WordPress site URL starts with https:// if you are using SSL on your site.

You can check the Site URL in WordPress Settings -> General
