Pods Display Default Value

I have a a Post Type (extended) with the name of page. I have added a custom field called general_topic with an added Default Value of ‘upselling’ on the Advanced Tab.

My desire is to output this default value via shortcode on the front end of my site. I have tried several things and it’s just blank. Here’s my shortcode:

[pods field=”general_topic, default_value”]

It will display if I add the value to the field directly on the page, but that’s not what I’m after. I just want to enter it once on the Advanced tab and use it throughout on different pages dynamically. What do I need to do and thank you in advance!
