trouble on one website

i manage several websites and switched them all to the new paypal payments plugin a few weeks ago. on most sites, everything went smoothly.

on one site though purchasers are all experiencing the same continued issue. they make a purchase, launch paypal on checkout, complete the login and payment source selection in the popup, but when they try to submit the payment, the site returns with an Internal Server Error. i can replicate this error. no payment is taken and the order is marked as failed in the woo admin.
