Recalling customer shipping address without them being a user?

Is there someway to have their shipping addressed recalled without having to create a user account for them?

To change user roles automatically, I’d recommend checking this plugin:

There are also membership plugins that would allow only members who have purchased X product to have access to certain parts of your site. For example:

There must be a way without a plugin to create users automatically when people place an order. My other site does this without a plugin, so there must be a setting somewhere probably in woocommerce.

When somebody places an order, they should be added as a user ‘customer’ automatically. How can I do this without a plugin?

Yes, there is an option within the “Accounts & Privacy” section (WooCommerce> Settings) to make this happen. Untick the ‘Enable guest checkout’ box. This will force users to create an account when they buy from your WooCommerce store:

That setting is checked on my site that creates users automatically when orders get placed. I don’t want to force them to create an account, rather it should just happen automatically.

At the moment, there’s no default option for that in WooCommerce, and customizing that would require a bit of additional coding. Custom coding goes beyond the scope of support we are able to provide in this forum.

Okay, it’s just odd that I have two sites with WooCommerce and one does it automatically the other doesn’t, and there is very little difference between the sites…

It seems that I’ve misunderstood your previous message. If you want an account to be created automatically you need to disable Guest checkout. These are the settings that you want to use:

I’ve tested it and it works. It automatically creates an account and a confirmation email with the username is sent to the customer. Keep in mind that the customer must be aware that an account has been created so that they can request cancellation in case they do not want to.

If this setting doesn’t work on your site, you may want to disable all plugins except WooCommerce and switch to the default Storefront theme, as there may be a conflict-related issue. Read more about conflicts here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/.
