Hyperlinks not working

  • I’m running the TwentySixteen theme and converting pages to blocks. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get hyperlinks in the buttons working, but nothing does.
    I’ve cleared cache several times. I’ve tried the button selections from both the sidebar menu and the popup menu. I’ve tried with the buttons customized for size and color and also not, with just a name. I’m using hyperlinks that I know work (if I paste them in a blank tab in Chrome they go exactly where I want. I’ve also researched some other people having similar problems, but their situations were different.

    This is a pretty vanilla site, the only things difficult are the hyperlinks and a contact page which is in the process of conversion. My site is hosted on BlueHost, so I always come into WP that way.

    No idea where to go next. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • When you say “buttons working” can you please describe how should they work and how they are currently working?

    Also, I am unable to find any buttons on any of the pages. If you are referring to menus( On the top right of your website) as buttons then please clarify that.

    I added buttons for direct links to the Amazon pages where they can be bought, using the button blocks, from both menus (the + menu and the popup menus).
    So, if someone clicks on them, they should open a new tab from the hyperlink. There was one for each book on the main page, underneath the book picture, labelled Amazon. I took them off after I tested because I didn’t want to confuse people with non-functional items that are supposed to be functional.

    To answer the other question, when I clicked on them, nothing happened at all.

    Can you please duplicate the page using any duplicate page plugin and then add the buttons in new duplicated test page and share the url here so that we could review what is the issue?

    My home page, RobertCrandall.com now has two buttons, one for each of the first two books. Both are tied to hyperlinks that work, but the buttons do nothing.

    I’ll leave this up for several days until a fix is found.

    Now I can see what is the issue. Maybe you’re confused with Block Editor Options.
    Check this screenshot https://snipboard.io/uevNTB.jpg, I have directed you on how to add links.

    The Rel and Anchor section where you’re currently adding the link it’s the wrong option. those are for different settings. And you’ll also see the open new tab option in my screenshot.

    So when you click on that Link/unlink icon(shown on screenshot) you’ll get the option to choose a page from your current website or you can use any external link(in your case) and then set open a new tab if needed.
